German residential complex fully fire and future proof with new Rockpanel facade

UV-resistant and durable facade cladding 
 
The facade of the residential complex already had a dark colour before the renovation. However, the fibre cement panels installed in the 1970s had become grey and were partially eroded. The building needed a facade cladding that would be UV-resistant, durable against mechanical damage and easy to clean. The Rockpanel Colours facade boards in dark anthracite colouring met all the requirements of Wohnbaugruppe Augsburg.

All the panels were pre-cut to size in the workshop of Hörmannshofer Fassaden Süd GmbH & Co.KG, the company responsible for the execution of the renovation, and then transported to the construction site. To minimise waste, they ordered Rockpanel facade boards in three different lengths. The facade boards were fixed on non-combustible stone wool insulation by means of Fixrock insulation panels with a thermal conductivity of 0.34 W/mK. And installed and fastened in a uniform laying pattern using rivets, which Rockpanel also delivered in RAL 7021, creating a uniform colour cladding. Thus, giving the facade a harmonious and calm look and feel.  

Recyclable materials 

Fußner kühne architekten in Friedberg were responsible for the design of the renovation. They came up with the idea for the new, triple-glazed plastic windows with the red aluminium outer shell and sand-coloured concrete balcony fences, adding a modern and bright touch to the anthracite-coloured facade. Furthermore, they thought up ways to renovate the building in a contemporary way pursuant to the applicable fire safety and building regulations while retaining its original character.
