Good to know: the edges of Rockpanel boards require no treatment to protect them from moisture. This is one of the many benefits over other board materials like wood and fibre cement board.
This means that finishing the edges with a corner solution is purely an aesthetic choice you can make. We offer a range of corner solutions that give an extra dimension and an attractive finish to your design.
In general, there are four types of corner solutions you could go for. First of all, we have a wide range of corner profiles available. They’re all available in any RAL colour you wish, so they fit perfectly into your design.
Have you chosen boards from the Rockpanel Metals, Rockpanel Chameleon or Rockpanel Woods, and not sure which colour would match best? We advise to use Blanc anodized or RAL 9005 (Jet black) profiles.
You could also paint the edges of the boards yourself. If you’re planning to do that, we’ve got some tips & tricks for obtaining the best result. Check out our how-to manual on painting edges!
For the highly skilled installer, making a mitre joint could also be an option. Do note that the minimum board thickness required for this solution is 8 mm.
And last but not least, you can also choose to embrace the natural beauty of Rockpanel and leave the edges untreated and uncovered! Without finishing, the basic material changes colour to a natural dark brown through the effect of UV.
If you see a Rockpanel board or sample for the first time, you might wonder why the edges are yellow. Rockpanel cladding is made of stone wool, a natural and very sustainable material made from the volcanic stone basalt. The stone wool itself has a yellow-greenish colour, so that’s what you see on the edges of Rockpanel boards. But if you install the boards to your facade, you will notice that they change colour in only a matter of weeks! The edges of the boards then turn into a very nice velvety brownish red colour – just like our untreated Rockpanel Natural boards
