Vertical cladding: inspiration for your own facade

Although most cladding boards are still placed horizontally, going for vertical cladding boards (also known as vertical siding) is a good way to give your building a more distinctive look. You do need to take into account that not all facade cladding boards are suitable for vertical application. For vertical cladding, it is paramount to choose a sustainable, durable product that is long-lasting and resistant against external influences.

EromesMarko HQ & factory   

During the renovation of EromesMarko’s headquarters and factory it soon became clear that real timber cladding wasn’t an option. Although the architects preferred to use vertical timber cladding, they realized that this would require way too much maintenance for a company building. Customized Rockpanel Woods facade boards – Caramel Oak – proved to be the perfect solution. Architect Martijn de Waal: “It’s almost indistinguishable from real timber and as durable as a facade made from stone. It definitely turned out the way I wanted it too. Actually, it even exceeded my expectations. I always feel proud when I visit this building. That very much proves how happy I am with the result.”  

HAUT Zwijndrecht 

For appartement complex HAUT in Zwijndrecht (The Netherlands), a combination of several Rockpanel designs were used. Rockpanel Woods Rhinestone Oak, Caramel Oak and Custom Brown Oak designs were used on a basis of black Rockpanel boards. Architect Nico de Bruijn: “With Rockpanel Woods we have an alternative that gives the facade a similar warm and natural appearance as wood, with the advantage of a firesafe facade that requires hardly any maintenance.”   

Markant Tiel 

Also for rehabilatation centre Markant in Tiel (The Netherlands) a striking combination of three three variations of Rockpanel Woods facade boards was used. These very authentic looking vertical timber cladding boards were placed on an oval facade.  

Koningslaan Rotterdam 

Anthracite Rockpanel Colours facade boards are a striking part of a new apartment complex of over 90 metres long at the Koningslaan in Rotterdam. Thanks to the use of a false vertical joint, the building looks anything but long or monotone.
