Real wood also has a poor reaction-to-fire performance. Even when fire retardants are added; ‘real’ wood is seen as naturally combustible.

Another issue with natural wood is that it expands or shrinks when exposed to moisture or changes in temperature. This causes dimensional instability, which results in quality loss in only a few years.
