New chameleon facade in Belgium is an instant hit

Being a finishing company known for delivering renovation projects with a powerful, striking appearance, it was clear from the beginning that Sherwin wanted to transform their new office building into a true showpiece. Of course, that needed to include a facade that really stands out from the crowd. Thanks to the magical colour effect of Rockpanel Chameleon, the building has become a real eye-catcher in the area.

A modern and multifunctional building

Innovation is an important asset for Sherwin. The key words for their new headquarters therefore were modern, timeless and multifunctional. In particular, the front elevation of the facade was required to be a true eye-catcher, business owner Dimitri de Graeve explains: “As a finishing company, we wanted to use this façade as a showcase for what we can do. The front of the building is a showroom in itself. All materials used on the facade are products we work with on a daily basis.” Rockpanel has been one of them for many years.

De Graeve: “A big plus of working with Rockpanel is that I always have a fixed point of contact within the company. That makes it really easy to discuss projects.” As Sherwin’s own building had to meet some high demands, De Graeve decided to contact Rockpanel. “I had a rust-like, copper colour in mind, but couldn’t immediately find what I was looking for.”

Remarkable façade with chameleon effect

There was a breakthrough when a Rockpanel employee recommended the Chameleon facade panels. “Rockpanel suggested that I visited a school in Anderlecht, where these facade boards were used. I immediately loved them,” De Graeve says. What impressed him most, was the striking chameleon effect. “When you walk along the facade, you can see how the colours of the facade change. That’s a unique feature you can’t find in other products.”

Low-maintenance façade panels

De Graeve was also impressed with the technical properties of Rockpanel Chameleon. The material is dimensionally stable and completely insensitive to changes in temperature. That means you can use very narrow joints of only 5 mm.” The fact that maintaining the facade panels is very easy, is another big advantage according to De Graeve: “The panels hardly require any cleaning, as the rain does pretty much all of the cleaning for us.”

With so many experienced specialists in-house, mounting the Rockpanel Chameleon boards was a piece of cake. De Graeve: “Our aim is always to install facade panels in the most optimal way, with clean lines and creating as little waste as possible. Cutting the boards comes down to precision for us. And of course, the people at Rockpanel were ready to help us in case we needed any help. That’s what really sets them apart from other companies.”

Light-weight, beautiful and easy to process

De Graeve is very happy with the end result: “The facade turned out just beautiful and attracts a lot of attention from people passing by. Looking back, I really wouldn’t change a thing. The material is aesthetic, light and very easy to work with. It really belongs at the top of façade materials.”
